| Froedtert & The Medical College are among only 118 academic medical centers in the country. This strong partnership — dedicated to excellence in patient care, research and medical education — has benefited patients, healthcare professionals and the region since 1980.
Among the Top 20 Academic Medical Centers in the United StatesIn 2007, a national scorecard measuring the clinical quality, safety and cost performance of nonprofit academic medical centers ranked Froedtert & The Medical College of Wisconsin 18th among 83 participating organizations — a 20-place jump over 2006.
The ranking is conducted annually by the University HealthSystem Consortium (UHC), a national alliance of 97 academic medical centers and 153 of their affiliated hospitals, representing about 90 percent of the nation’s non-profit academic medical centers. The UHC collects and analyzes data from its members about clinical, operational and patient safety performance, and releases an annual quality and accountability scorecard.

- Conduct breakthrough research — Froedtert & The Medical College conduct clinical research trials and other studies that continually enhance the quality of health care in the region — and beyond. The Medical College of Wisconsin receives a high level of research support from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) as well as other government research grants. In fiscal year 2006-2007, the Medical College of Wisconsin ranked 42nd among the nation’s medical schools for receiving NIH funding for medical research.
