Achievements and Quality

Accreditations

National Accreditation

The Joint Commission, an independent, not-for-profit organization, is the premier group that sets national healthcare standards and has been accrediting healthcare facilities since 1951. The Joint Commission conducts extensive onsite visits of healthcare providers every three years focusing not only on the ability to provide quality and safety of care but on a facility’s actual performance in practice. Hospitals and clinics spend several years preparing for the review, which evaluates every aspect of the patient care delivery system.

Stroke Program Earns National Recognition

In 2004, the Froedtert & The Medical College of Wisconsin Stroke Program became the first in Wisconsin to be accredited by The Joint Commission as a Primary Stroke Center. This important national certification recognizes the Stroke Program's high level of care, specifically recognizing that the critical elements are in place to ensure improved outcomes for those afflicted with stroke.

Heart and Vascular Center’s VAD Program Recognition

Froedtert & The Medical College of Wisconsin met The Joint Commission’s stringent volume and clinical quality requirements and was awarded the Gold Seal of Approval for their Adult Ventricular Assist Device (VAD) Destination Therapy Program. Froedtert & The Medical College have one of the fastest growing advanced heart failure and VAD programs in the nation.

Radiation Oncology Program Earns National Accreditation

Following an intensive survey by the American College of Radiology (ACR), The Medical College of Wisconsin radiation oncology program has been accredited for its fourth consecutive three-year term. Just 10 percent of the nation’s radiation oncology practices achieve this distinction.

Inpatient Rehabilitation Programs Earn Accreditation

Froedtert Hospital’s Inpatient Rehabilitation Programs have earned a three-year accreditation from CARF, the Commission on the Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities. The programs receiving accreditation include the Brain Injury, Stroke, Spinal Cord Injury, General Rehab and Outpatient Neuro rehab Programs.

Level I Trauma Center Re-Verified

Wisconsin’s oldest, most experienced adult Level I Trauma Center has been reverified by the American College of Surgeons. Level I designation is the highest rating a trauma center may receive.
