Community
Benefit Fact
Nearly 100 organizations are on Froedtert Hospital's approved partnership list for staff to participate in community services.

Support Our Shelters
In 2009, Froedtert Health provided personal care items to benefit individuals at two local shelters and an outreach clinic. Donations from Froedtert staff benefited, The Salvation Army Emergency Lodge, the Guest House of Milwaukee and Community Memorial Hospital Outreach Health Clinic. These organizations play a vital role in our area for homeless and unemployed people.

“On behalf of the Salvation Army Emergency Lodge, I want to thank you for sponsoring the toiletry, socks and washcloths drive. This really shows the caring nature and generosity of the Froedtert Hospital staff. Everyone who participated really went out of their way to make a difference. Items collected will definitely help all the residents who stay at the shelter. If I had to guess, considering the turnover rate here, everything collected will probably last us close to three months [serves approximately 180 people a month.] This will significantly help us out, especially in these tough economic times.”
               - Tom Flatley, The Salvation Army Emergency Lodge

Holiday Gift Drive
For the last 13 years, Froedtert Hospital has partnered with the Volunteer Center of Greater Milwaukee to provide gifts to disadvantaged children and adults during the holidays.
In 2008, 45 hospital departments provided gifts for nearly 300 needy children and adults being served by organizations such as the American Red Cross and the Lisbon Avenue Neighborhood Development Association. Those who receive gifts gain more than a package – it connects them to the community and says that someone cares.

Blood Drives
Froedtert Hospital hosts quarterly blood drives with the BloodCenter of Wisconsin. With every blood donation, another birthday, another laugh and another moment are given to three people in the community.

“I had been donating blood off and on for five years, but it became much easier when I began at Froedtert two years ago because the organization has frequent blood drives and is very supportive of staff taking a little time out of the day to give. Donating blood is a quick and easy way to give back to the community in a very tangible way. It is nice to think that each time I donate, I have the potential to save three people’s lives. I donate at every drive if my schedule allows.”
                    - Adam, staff member
