The following opportunities are not coordinated by the hospital's Volunteer Services but are other ways in which you can give of yourself.
Hospice Volunteer
Hospice volunteers provide companionship and practical support to Hospice patients and families in their homes, nursing homes or hospice residences. Ways in which volunteers help include: providing companionship and giving emotional support to the patient and family members, running errands or doing minor chores, assisting at meal time and helping with light household tasks. People are also needed to help in the office. Volunteers give two to three hours weekly; day, evening and weekend hours in Milwaukee, Waukesha, Ozaukee and Washington counties. Meals on Wheels
Horizon Home Care and Hospice Inc. is looking for licensed, responsible drivers to deliver meals to homebound seniors in the Milwaukee area. The meals are prepared by Froedtert Hospital's Food Service Department. Meals on Wheels drivers provide a tremendous service to our clients and families, offering a small peace of mind each day that loved ones are visited and brought a hot, nutritious meal. Volunteers must be available for midday (between 10:30 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.) driving and able to commit to at least one day a week for a period of six months or more. Teams of drivers are welcome and mileage reimbursement is available. We will work to match your availability with a route in your area. Horizon requires (and covers the costs of) a physical, background check, and orientation for all new volunteers.
