Where incredible things happen. Every day.

Volunteering

A few hours a week
can truly make a difference

Volunteer Associates at Froedtert Hospital share their special skills and talents with others. Why not open your heart and help someone in your community? Your concern can make a patient's day better and add to Froedtert's reputation for excellent patient care. In the process, you can learn how Froedtert Hospital helps patients through world class diagnostic and treatment services.

Being a Froedtert Hospital volunteer associate isn't all work. You'll have opportunities to enjoy picnics, special luncheons, an elegant fashion show and meeting people who share your interest in helping others.

At Froedtert Hospital, we offer many different opportunities for you to serve. More than 300 volunteers are involved in 30 different areas, including:

  • Ambulatory Clinics
  • Birth Center
  • Community Resource Center
  • Emergency Department
  • Eye Institute
  • Family Center
  • Information desks
  • Inpatient nursing floors
  • Radiology
  • Spinal Cord Injury Center
  • West End Gift Shoppe
  • Flower, newspaper, mail delivery, special projects and more!

There are other services that are not coordinated by the hospital's Volunteer Services but are other ways in which you can give of yourself.

Becoming a Volunteer

The Volunteer Program is open to men and women of all ages, as well as high school (ages 16 and older) and college students. Flexible hours can be arranged, but Volunteer Services asks that you make a minimum commitment of 80 service hours.

Application Process

  • Request an application from Volunteer Services by filling out the Contact Us Form or by calling Volunteer Services at 414-805-5012.
    • We will send you an e-mail (if you have access to e-mail) with links to complete an application and other paperwork.
    • If you have e-mail and Microsoft Word, complete the forms and send them back to the e-mail address noted in the instructions.
    • If you receive the application by mail, complete and return the application to Volunteer Services as noted in the instructions.
  • After receiving your forms, Volunteer Services will contact you to schedule an interview to discuss your availability and areas of interest.
  • You will then be given information on scheduling a health screening and a TB skin test, done in Occupational Health.
  • Complete a criminal background check form.
  • All volunteers must complete New Volunteer Orientation, either by attending an in-house orientation or by reviewing self-study materials at home.
  • Some positions require that you attend a departmental orientation or receive special training.
  • All records must be in place before you can begin volunteering.
