Features
The PGY2 Practice Management Residency builds upon PGY1 residency graduates’ competence in the delivery of patient-centered care and in pharmacy operational services to prepare residents who can assume high level managerial, supervisory and leadership responsibilities. Upon graduation, residents are prepared for a management role in a variety of work settings including small to mid-size hospitals, large health systems, patient benefit management organizations and the pharmaceutical industry.
This PGY2 residency program is built upon many years of experience training pharmacy practice residents. An emphasis on medication safety and informatics can be incorporated throughout the year. Additional learning opportunities include clinical practice management, operations & technology management, ambulatory service management, budgeting, purchasing & contract negotiation, drug policy management, program development, strategic planning and human resource management. Projects and activities are tailored to the needs and interests of the resident.
The pharmacy management team at Froedtert Hospital is well-connected and involved in local, state and national organizations including academic hospital peer and contracting groups, offering the resident exposure to activities beyond the institution level.
