PGY2 Residency Project
Amiodarone for Atrial Fibrillation Following Cardiothoracic Surgery: An Evaluation of Dosing and Recurrence and Review of the Literature

The purpose of this study is to characterize patients following a procedure involving entry into the thoracic cavity that are at increased risk for developing atrial fibrillation that could be resistant to initial medical cardioversion with amiodarone and/or recurs following successful medical cardioversion that requires prolonged infusions of amiodarone.  This study will also aim to be able to provide dosing guidelines for these patients when converting continuous infusion of amiodarone to an optimal oral dose to reduce rates of atrial fibrillation recurrence.
