PGY1 Residency Project
Evaluation and Optimization of Automated Medication Alerts
The objectives of this project are to analyze the type and frequencies of medication safety alerts generated through Epic order entry and verification, asses the most frequently overridden alerts for optimization, and develop a workflow for addressing future problematic medication safety alerts.
Why did you choose to pursue a residency?
Pursuing a residency is an important step in opening potential career paths in pharmacy and lead to positions that are otherwise difficult to obtain. I wanted to develop my clinical skills and knowledge in areas of pharmacy that I had little experience in previously and further refine my overall practice abilities.
What attracted you to Froedtert’s pharmacy residency program?
I was looking a residency program in a large, academic, tertiary care hospital in the Midwest. Froedtert’s residency program offers a wide variety of rotations and flexibility in scheduling rotations that appealed to my interests. Froedtert also displayed a commitment to utilization and expansion of technology within the pharmacy practice model. Specifically, Froedtert went live with Epic CPOE early in the residency year. Considering my interests and desired career path, it was a very good fit.
I currently play on several soccer teams and am an avid soccer fan (Arsenal and the U.S National teams), any other sport or outdoor activity, homebrewing, cooking and eating.
What's your favorite thing to do in Milwaukee?
