PGY1 Residency Project
Evaluation of the addition of pharmacist to rapid response teams
Currently pharmacists at Froedtert respond to codes 24/7 but have no formal role on rapid response teams. To date there are no studies that have investigated the impact of pharmacists on rapid response teams. The purpose of this study is to retrospectively review previous rapid responses at Froedtert Hospital to determine frequently administered medications and a potential role for the pharmacist. After the results of the retrospective study, an ongoing pilot study will be conducted evaluating the impact post-implementation of the pharmacist on rapid response teams.

Why did you choose to pursue a residency?
I thought a residency was an integral part of supplementing my baseline knowledge and to help further develop my skills as an independent practitioner.  Additionally, it allows me to be involved with the education of others and it is the next step in my pursuit of a PGY2 in critical care.

What attracted you to Froedtert’s pharmacy residency program?
Froedtert offers a large, academic institution that places a strong emphasis on teaching. There are strong preceptors and a multitude of experiences that will help me develop my teaching, leadership, and clinical skill sets.
