Spinal Cord Injury Preceptorship

The Spinal Cord Injury (SCI) Preceptorship is a program open to nurses, therapists and emergency medical technicians. Class sizes are limited to six participants per session. Call 414-805-3666 or 800-272-3666 (option #2) to register.

When: March 12, May 14 and June 11: 8:00 am - 4:00 pm
Where: Froedtert Hospital, details will be provided upon registration
Cost: Free; continental breakfast and lunch will be provided
Presenters: Dennis Maiman, MD, PhD, Medical College of Wisconsin neurosurgeon and director of the Froedtert & the Medical College of Wisconsin Spinal Cord Injury Center;
Shekar Kurpad, MD, PhD, Medical College of Wisconsin neurosurgeon 
Discussion Topics:
  • Care of SCI patient from injury through rehabilitation
  • Principles of SCI management, stabilization and research
  • Review of anatomy and physiology associated with SCI
  • Operating room observation
  • Overview of physical therapy and occupational therapies relating to SCI
  • Facility tour
