Tumor Boards at Froedtert & the Medical College of Wisconsin


Tumor boards are an important part of the Cancer Program at Froedtert & the Medical College of Wisconsin. The following tumor boards meet weekly, biweekly or monthly:

  • The multidisciplinary tumor board is attended by staff from Diagnostic Radiology, General Surgery, Neoplastic (tumor) Diseases and Related Disorders, Nuclear Medicine, Pathology and Radiation Oncology. Nurses, fellows, residents, medical students and other health professionals participating in the care of cancer patients also may attend. Cancer cases that don’t have a formal tumor board often are presented in this biweekly conference.
  • The Gynecologic Oncology tumor board is attended by staff from Pathology, Obstetrics/Gynecology, Diagnostic Radiology and Radiation Oncology.
  • Liver tumor conferences include staff from Gastroenterology, Neoplastic Diseases and Related Disorders and Surgery.
  • Hematology (diseases of the blood) case conferences include staff from Neoplastic Diseases and Related Disorders. Fellows and residents also attend.
  • Surgical Radiology chest conferences include cancer patients and staff from Pulmonary Medicine and Radiology.
  • Thoracic (chest) tumor conferences include staff from Thoracic Surgery, Pulmonary Medicine, Radiology, Radiation Oncology and Neoplastic Diseases and Related Disorders.
  • Musculoskeletal Oncology conferences include staff from Orthopaedic Surgery, Radiology, Pathology, Radiation Oncology and Neoplastic Diseases and Related Disorders.
  • Lymphoma tumor board conferences are attended by staff from Diagnostic Radiology, Pathology, Surgery, Medical Oncology and Radiation Oncology.
  • Neuro-oncology (brain cancer) tumor boards are attended by staff from Neuro-oncology, Neurosurgery, Radiation Oncology and Neuroradiology.
  • At Oncology case conferences, attendees include Neoplastic Diseases and Related Disorders physicians, fellows and house staff (residents).
  • Otolaryngology (head and neck) tumor boards are attended by staff from Neoplastic Diseases and Related Disorders, Surgery and Radiation Oncology. Nurses, data managers and dietitians also attend.
  • Pancreatobiliary (pancreas and bile duct) case conferences include cancer patients and staff from Gastroenterology, General Surgery, Interventional Radiology and Radiation Oncology.
