Froedtert Hospital Earns Consumer Choice Award, Best Hospitals RankingFroedtert Hospital’s expertise and compassionate care were recently recognized by U.S. News & World Report and the National Research Corporation. The hospital’s endocrinology, kidney disease and urology programs were included in U.S. News and World Report’s 2007 Best Hospitals list, while the National Research Corporation named Froedtert a 2007/08 Consumer Choice Award winner for metropolitan Milwaukee.
The U.S. News and World Report rankings, widely considered the most authoritative hospital guide, screened 5,462 hospitals and medical centers nationwide. Only 173 hospitals made the list, which evaluated programs in 16 different specialties. The report ranks hospitals by specialty because the goal is to identify facilities that provide outstanding care for a variety of conditions within a specialty, instead of excelling at one or two particular procedures. The hospitals listed provide comprehensive specialty care and are equipped to deal with the most challenging cases.
Froedtert Hospital was ranked No. 24 in endocrinology, No. 31 in kidney disease and No. 37 in urology. These rankings were determined by evaluating care-related factors such as patient volume, nursing care, the availability of advanced technology, reputation (as selected by other specialists) and death rates.
“This list includes the finest medical centers in the country, and we are proud that Froedtert Hospital is among them,” said William D. Petasnick, president and CEO of Froedtert Hospital. “It’s a credit to the outstanding staff and physicians who care for patients at Froedtert.”
Froedtert is also recognized locally as an outstanding medical center. The Consumer Choice Awards recognize healthcare facilities that are highly regarded within their own communities. Each year, the National Research Corporation surveys more than 400,000 healthcare consumers throughout the United States. Awards are given to those organizations recognized by their community as having the highest quality and image.
This is the fifth time in six years that Froedtert Hospital has won a Consumer Choice Award.
“It’s a great honor to be chosen for this award,” Petasnick said. “The strong emphasis Froedtert Hospital places on quality health care clearly makes a difference to our patients and our community.”
Froedtert & the Medical College of Wisconsin, the only academic medical center in eastern Wisconsin, offer a collaborative, team approach to health care. This multi-disciplinary approach means that patients have access to highly skilled doctors who work together to provide the best possible care.
