Hospitalist Services New
at Community Memorial Hospital

Community Memorial Hospital began using hospitalists for 24-hour inpatient care on the first of the year. Hospitalists are physicians with special training in hospital-based care who provide immediate general medical care to inpatients.

The Hospitalist Program was established in response to feedback from physicians on Community Memorial Hospital’s medical staff who wanted to focus on ambulatory care of patients. As hospitalists focus on inpatient care, they communicate closely with a patient’s primary care physician for continuity of care. Some of the benefits of Community Memorial’s Hospitalist Program include:

  • Decreased length of stay as hospitalists streamline the care process
  • Decrease in the cost of an inpatient stay
  • Immediate availability of a physician for an emergency medical admission of a patient who does not have a physician
  • Immediate availability of medical consultations for specialty physicians
