Medical College of Wisconsin AIDS Research Center Receives $9.5 Million Grant The National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) recently awarded a $9.5 million grant to the Medical College of Wisconsin’s Center for AIDS Intervention Research (CAIR), along with renewed designation as a national center. One of five HIV prevention researchcenters in the country supported by NIMH, CAIR is the only center of its kind between the East and West coasts. "Dr. Jeff Kelly and his team have conducted novel research that has helped reduce the spread of HIV and AIDS,” says Laura Roberts, MD, chairman of Psychiatry and Behavioral Medicine. “They have also developed innovative strategies to quickly and efficiently get their scientific findings into the hands of service providers on the front lines so these providers can directly benefit from the Center's research. The work conducted by CAIR has provided the world with valuable approaches to help lessen the spread of HIV and to reduce the burden of a number of diseases with behavioral aspects," Dr. Roberts adds. Jeffrey A. Kelly, PhD is a Medical College of Wisconsin psychiatrist and director of CAIR.
