My father grew up in southwestern Missouri about 25 miles east of Joplin, the site of the devastating tornado on Sunday, May 22, 2011. We visited the region every year to see family and spend time with people my dad had known and loved.
Over the past two weeks, I have thought many times of the gentle people I met in the communities near Joplin.
