Newly retired banker Randy Myricks was looking forward to spending a lot less time managing the green and a lot more time on the greens.
Then the unexpected happened. He heard the two words no man wants to hear.
Prostate Cancer.
For years Randy had an annual physical, including a PSA test. This time his annual physical revealed a dramatic increase in his PSA levels, which led to a biopsy and then a prostate cancer diagnosis.
“I got the news on the Friday of Labor Day weekend. It ended up being the longest weekend of my life. I’d never been sick a day and my wife and I were both in shock," Randy said.

| | "Finally, I decided to talk to a friend at the Medical College. He recommended the Froedtert & the Medical College Prostate Cancer Second Opinion Program. Within two hours my friend had set up an appointment for me with Dr. William See, ” Randy said.
Needless to say, Randy assumed his diagnosis would dramatically change his retirement game plan. And his wife Mona’s plans too. But when they met with Dr. William A. See, MD, Medical College of Wisconsin urologist and chairman of Urology, they learned they had lots of choices.
“Dr. See explained all the different options Froedtert & the Medical College of Wisconsin offers. Seeding, radiation, freezing, and the traditional surgical approach. He explained that if we started with surgery all these other approaches would still be an option. But if we started with one of the other choices, surgery wouldn’t be an option down the road. So we decided to go with the surgical approach,” explained Randy.
“The whole team was great. Really there for me and my wife. And Dr. See, I just can’t say enough good things about how he was with me. He was serious, and funny, and warm. He tells you the truth. He tells it like it is,” Randy said.
Randy was home recovering three days after his surgery. Today he is happy to report he’s totally back in the swing of things, enjoying golf and his family.
