CEO Named to Board of Trustees

(Aug. 1, 2003) — William D. Petasnick, president and CEO of Froedtert & Community Health (a partnership of Froedtert Hospital in Milwaukee and Community Memorial Hospital in Menomonee Falls) has been named to the American Hospital Association’s Board of Trustees.  This is the first time the American Hospital Association (AHA) has appointed an at-large trustee from the State of Wisconsin.

August 14, 2003, the AHA announced the election of seven new members to its Board of Trustees, the policy-making body of the AHA which has ultimate authority for the control and management of its direction and finances.  The terms begin January 1, 2004 and end December 31, 2006.

Prior to joining Froedtert Hospital, he was deputy director and chief operating officer at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.  Petasnick is the 2003 chair of the Council of Teaching Hospitals and a past chair of the Wisconsin Health and Hospital Association. Petasnick is currently a state delegate to the AHA's regional policy board (RPB) 5 and serves on the governing council of AHA's Section for Metropolitan Hospitals.

Petasnick earned a bachelor's degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and a master's in health care administration from the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis.  He is an adjunct associate professor of health management at the University of Iowa in Iowa City.
