Awards Honor the Champion Next Door

MILWAUKEE (May 8, 2006) — Froedtert & the Medical College of Wisconsin for the third year in a row are seeking the most inspirational people in the area. For the past two years, Froedtert & the Medical College staff and community members throughout Wisconsin set out to find the most inspirational people in the area who exemplified courage, passion and dedication by overcoming serious medical challenges. More than 150 people have been nominated, and nine individuals who persevered through their illnesses were selected and were publicly recognized for their achievements.

Froedtert & the Medical College of Wisconsin are once again, setting out to recognize patients who have shown this same level of courage, passion and dedication by overcoming serious medical challenges.

The Hope and Spirit Awards will acknowledge current and former patients who have conquered obstacles and beat the odds by remaining committed to their own health. Whether triumphing over cancer, heart disease, neurological disorders or other serious health issues, Froedtert & the Medical College patients have amazing stories to tell, which in turn can inspire hope and provide encouragement to others.

The Hope and Spirit Award winners will be chosen on the basis of the strength, determination and perseverance needed to fight serious medical challenges. They will be honored at a celebration in September.

How to Nominate a Hope and Spirit Award Winner

To nominate a current or former patient, complete the entry form found at froedtert.com and compose an essay of up to 300 words describing how your nominee fits the Hope and Spirit criteria, which includes the following qualities:

Respect and belief in him/herself and others
Resolve to overcome a serious medical challenge
Profound emotional/spiritual experience
Passion
Courage
Inspiring to others

To enter by mail, send your entry form and essay to Froedtert & Medical College Hope and Spirit Awards, c/o Public Relations, 9200 W. Wisconsin Avenue, Milwaukee, WI 53226-3596. Nomination forms and entries also will be accepted online at froedtert.com. The deadline for entries is July 7, 2006.
