Sports Medicine Open House Will Feature Brewers

MILWAUKEE (May 17, 2007) — The Froedtert & Medical College of Wisconsin Sports Medicine Center is hosting a free open house on June 6, offering attendees the chance to meet Milwaukee Brewers Prince Fielder and J.J. Hardy. Each attendee will have the opportunity to get one autograph from each player while catching a glimpse of the Sports Medicine Center where many Brewers and other professional athletes train and rehabilitate. The Sports Medicine Center is located on the Northwest corner of 87th Street and Watertown Plank Road (8700 W. Watertown Plank Road). The open house starts at 5:45 pm and ends at 8 pm.

“On top of meeting two of the hottest Brewers players, we are excited for the public to see some of our training programs that apply to professionals as well as high school and college athletes,” said Tom Engel, manager of the Froedtert & Medical College of Wisconsin Sports Medicine Center. Last year, Ben Sheets went through training and rehabilitation at the Sports Medicine Center.

The open house will also offer the following:

  • Interactive activities, including “Speed Pitch” – children can have their pitch “clocked” by a radar gun to see how they measure up to the pros.
  • An educational talk discussing why athletes get injured from Brewers team physician William Raasch, MD. Raasch is an orthopaedic surgeon with the Medical College of Wisconsin and the director of the Froedtert & Medical College of Wisconsin Sports Medicine Center.
  • Live raffle for all attendees to win Brewers tickets, autographed Brewers items and a free performance enhancement training program from Froedtert & the Medical College.
