Nurse Wins "Rising Star" Award
Milwaukee, WI (May 28, 2008) — Tina Curtis, RN, BSN, a nurse manager in the Froedtert & the Medical College of Wisconsin Emergency Department, has been awarded the “Rising Star” award by the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee (UWM) College of Nursing.
The award is presented to a UWM alumnus who has demonstrated excellence in leadership and professional involvement in their place of employment, professional organizations or healthcare related activities. The award is also given to a currently active nurse, who has received a Bachelor’s of Science degree in the past five years from UWM. Before working at Froedtert Hospital in 2005, Curtis worked as a 911 operator as well as for the Medical Examiner's office. She is a resident of Milwaukee.
“We think very highly of Tina’s devoted work on behalf of our patients, department and organization,” said Patricia Bellittiere, director of the Emergency Department at Froedtert Hospital. “Tina is our clinical nurse leader on a PM shift with never ending high demand in eastern Wisconsin’s adult Level 1 Trauma Center. She is constantly challenged, but always keeps her focus on quality, evidence-based care.”
The Froedtert & the Medical College Emergency Department had more than 52,000 patient visits in 2007.
