Froedtert Nurse to Lead Oncology Society

Milwaukee, WI (Jan. 28, 2009) — Mary Bohn, RN, OCN, will be sworn in Feb. 26 as president of the Southeastern Wisconsin Oncology Nursing Society (SWONS).

Mary has worked in Froedtert & The Medical College of Wisconsin’s Clinical Cancer Center since 2002. Her area specializes in pre- and post-bone marrow transplant patients, multiple myeloma, leukemia, lymphoma, myelodysplastic syndrome and malignant hematology. She spent four years during the 1990s working as an inpatient nurse at Froedtert.

SWONS supports continuing education for members, provides scholarships for undergraduates and graduate education and participates in community service projects. As president of SWONS, Mary will preside over board and membership meetings and represent the Southeastern Wisconsin chapter at the national Oncology Nursing Society congress.

“Mary’s involvement with Southeastern Wisconsin Oncology Nursing Society has allowed her to grow as an oncology nurse,” said Ann Marie Ronsman, MSN, RN, director of Clinical Cancer Services at Froedtert. “The interaction with her peers has provided her with both educational and emotional support. Serving as president is a wonderful way for her to give back to an organization that has given her so much. We are proud to have one of our nurses serving in this capacity.”
