Froedtert Health Completes Acquisition of Six ProHealth Care Practices
Milwaukee, Wis. (September 7, 2010) — Froedtert Health has completed the acquisition of ProHealth Care Medical Associates practices in six locations in Menomonee Falls, Germantown and Hartford. The transaction includes 90 physicians, clinicians and other specialists, and approximately 400 staff. The six locations began operating as Froedtert Health on September 7.
“Many of the physicians and staff joining Froedtert Health have long-standing relationships with Community Memorial Hospital,” said William Petasnick, president and chief executive officer of Froedtert Health. “This change of ownership is in the best interest of our patients, who wish to receive health services close to home.”
The transaction includes three general clinics, which are located at W180 N7950 Town Hall Road, Menomonee Falls, W168 N11237 Western Ave., Germantown, and 110 Lone Oak Lane, Hartford; two Menomonee Falls specialty services, behavioral health at N91 W17271 Appleton Ave., and rehabilitation at W178 N9201 Watertower Place; and a Sussex physician practice. Nearly 100,000 patients visited these clinics over the past three years.
Paul Todd, MD, has been named chief medical officer and Randy Newman will serve as clinic administrator for the new group of clinics. The physicians will join Froedtert Health Medical Group, which is the community-based physician practice of Froedtert Health.
Todd is a psychiatrist who joined Medical Associates in 1980. A longtime Medical Associates board member, he chaired the board of directors for five years prior to the merger with ProHealth Care, and subsequently joined the ProHealth Care board. Newman was chief financial officer of Medical Associates of Menomonee Falls Ltd. for 10 years and continued as vice president-finance after the 2008 ProHealth Care merger.
“There has always been synergy between the staffs of Community Memorial and Medical Associates,” said Todd. “Working together as part of the same organization will enhance and invigorate those relationships to the benefit of patients and the community.”
Ford Titus, chief executive officer of ProHealth Care, said, “Honoring patient wishes and supporting the local delivery of health care services have always been part of our respective organizations’ mutual missions, and this change of ownership supports those missions.”
Phone numbers for all clinics will remain the same and patients’ medical records will automatically transfer with their providers to Froedtert Health. Patients received a letter about the ownership change several weeks ago. More information, including a list of providers who are joining the system and insurance carriers for Froedtert Health, is available by calling Froedtert Health-Community Memorial Hospital Care Connection at 262-251-1001 or online at froedterthealth.org.
