St. Joseph's Hospital Receives Echocardiography Accreditation
West Bend, Wis. – St. Joseph’s Hospital has received echocardiography accreditation from the Intersocietal Commission for the Accreditation of Echocardiology Laboratories in the areas of adult transthoracic, adult transesophageal and adult stress echoes. St. Joseph’s Hospital achieved accreditation along with Froedtert Hospital and Community Memorial Hospital.
To receive three-year accreditation, a facility must be able to verify information about equipment, procedure volumes, training and experience of physicians and sonographers, certificates and credentials, number of studies interpreted, as well as many policies and protocols.
ICAEL accreditation is based on national quality level of procedural performance and reporting by an individual institution. The ICAEL has been accrediting facilities in echocardiography since 1996 through the collaboration of physicians, technologists, sonographers, physicists and other medical professionals representing more than 40 medical specialties who contribute to its efforts.
