Inpatient Care

Comfortable rooms with world-class service

Froedtert & The Medical College of Wisconsin take care of all aspects of your stay here. All but a few of our rooms are private rooms with private baths and services like Internet access and cable TV.  During your hospital stay, a multidisciplinary team will be involved in all aspects of your care, including your discharge. This team includes your physician, nurse, therapist, case manager and social worker. They will talk to you about your discharge from the hospital shortly after you are admitted, to ensure that your needs will be met when it's time to return home.

Private accommodations

We want to make your stay as comfortable as possible. Nearly all rooms are private with a private bath, phone and color cable TV and online Patient Education. There are nurse servers within each room with needed supplies. In most rooms, recliners are available for family members. In addition, a nurse call system notifies the patient’s assigned nurse.

In-Room Dining

Our innovative In-Room Dining program allows you to select meals from an extensive menu. Meals are freshly prepared and delivered within 45 minutes of your request. Learn more.

Patient Internet Access

Each patient room at Froedtert Hospital is also equipped with a data port that allows patients and their families to connect to the Internet. The Patient Access Network (PAN) allows you to connect your laptop with a network cable via the green data port located in patient rooms at Froedtert Hospital. All patient rooms have a data port, with the exception of the Pavilion 2P Nursing Unit. The PAN also extends to the 6th and 7th floors of Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin, which houses the Froedtert Hospital Birth Center.

Nurses are not able to provide technical support to patients. If a patient needs assistance connecting a laptop to the PAN, he or she should ask the nurse to contact our Froedtert & Community Health Client Services Help Desk.

Discharge procedures

An admission folder will be provided to you on your admission day. This folder provides you with important information concerning your hospital stay and discharge. More information will be available to you after your admission through your in-room educational channel. A discharge planning video is available to view to take you through the discharge process one step at a time. Let your discharge planning team know if you have any questions or need to speak to them to address a concern you many have.

Helping you after your stay

If you need any services at discharge, the discharge planning team will meet with you to talk about these arrangements. Services can include home healthcare, outpatient therapies or medical equipment. Following some hospital stays, additional care and treatment will be needed. In these instances, the discharge team will help assist you to find an acceptable nursing home, subacute or rehabilitation center that best meets your needs.
