Anesthesiology
Dr. Abram received his undergraduate degree from Dartmouth College in 1966 and his MD Degree from Jefferson Medical College in 1970. He completed his Anesthesiology residency at the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Affiliated Hospitals in 1973. Following two years of active duty in the U.S. Navy, he was appointed to the faculty of the Medical College of Wisconsin, attaining the rank of Professor in 1984. During most of his years at MCW he served as Medical Director of the Pain Management Center at the Milwaukee County Hospital and Froedtert Hospital, and as pain fellowship program director. In 1996, he accepted an appointment as tenured Professor of Anesthesiology at the University of New Mexico, where he served as Medical Director for the Pain Management Clinics at University Hospital and the Albuquerque Veterans Administration Hospital and as pain fellowship program director. He served as Anesthesiology Department Chairman at UNM from 1998 through 2002. In 2003 he returned to the Medical College of Wisconsin where he serves on the anesthesiology faculty and is the pain fellowship director.
