The staff of the Froedtert & The Medical College of Wisconsin Bariatric Surgery Program consists of a multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals in a broad range of medical specialties. Together and in one-on-one consultations, members of this team offer superior medical knowledge and coordinated patient care.
- Surgeons are board-certified with extensive experience in minimally invasive, as well as open weight loss operations. They offer the laparoscopic adjustable gastric band (LapBand®, Realize® band), laparoscopic or open Roux en Y gastric bypass, and laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy procedures.
- Our nurse practitioner sees patients in clinic, has extensive training and is experienced with the health issues of people who have had or are planning to have bariatric surgery.
- On-staff psychologists do pre-surgery evaluations and post-operation counseling to ensure patients are emotionally prepared for all aspects of the surgical procedure as well as post-surgical lifestyle changes.
- A registered dietitian instructs patients on food and calorie intake in a pre-operation class. Dietitians are available by phone or in person following an operation for consultation regarding eating patterns, health maintenance and safe weight loss.
- Specialists with advanced training in bariatric-related medical conditions provide pre- and post-surgical assessments and care as needed.
