Breast Cancer Program

Programs and Services

Emphasizing Education

The Breast Care Center is dedicated to breast health — to educating women, promoting self-awareness and providing comprehensive breast care throughout the stages of life. Here, women will find the latest imaging and diagnostic equipment, our Breast Cancer High-Risk Assessment Clinic and genetics counseling. Our Breast Cancer Program team represents all the specialties that might be involved in the treatment of breast cancer, including psychological support to help get you through difficult times, nutritional counseling and nursing support.

Breast Cancer High-Risk
Assessment Clinic

Women with a strong family history of breast cancer — or any woman who is concerned — will benefit from knowing more about her real risk. The clinic can help you understand your risk of developing breast cancer in a way that will be meaningful to you. An experienced team will assess your risk factors and work with you to develop a personalized breast health plan that can help reduce your risk.

A visit to the Breast Cancer High-Risk Assessment Clinic includes:

  • Documentation of family and medical history
  • Thorough clinical examination of the breasts
  • Nutritional counseling
  • Cancer Genetics Screening Program, including genetic counseling and testing (BRCA testing) when warranted
  • Individualized recommendations and education

Breast Cancer Clinical Nurse Specialist

Numerous treatment options, physician choices and life changes — along with emotional stress — can be overwhelming for a woman facing a diagnosis of breast cancer. Our breast cancer clinical nurse specialist is here to support you every step of the way — to educate, advise and listen. She coordinates appointments, acts as your advocate, educates and counsels you and your family, and arranges follow-up visits once treatment is complete.

Breast Cancer Support Groups

The Westside Breast Cancer Support Group is open to patients, survivors, family members and friends.

Froedtert & the Medical College of Wisconsin partner with Gilda’s Club, a place where women, men and children living with cancer — and their families and friends — can join with others to build social and emotional support.
