A Growing Need for Cancer CareOver the past five years, demand for cancer services at Froedtert & The Medical College has grown significantly:
- Medical oncology – up 56 percent
- Radiation oncology – up 42 percent
In 2007, we treated more than 2,600 new cancer cases and had more than 115,000 cancer patient visits.
Comprehensive Care for All Types of Cancer
- Cancer specialists in 13 disease specific cancer programs
- New model of care centralizes all cancer clinics and support services in one building
- More than 200 physicians and scientists dedicated to cancer treatment and research
- Access to clinical trials (about 130 devoted to cancer each year)
- Day Hospital with extended hours for chemotherapy and related care in a serene, comfortable setting unlike any other in the region
- Small Stones Wellness Center with special services for cancer patients including skin and nail care, concealers, head coverings and post-mastectomy garments
- Quality of Life Center offering cancer physical therapy, survivorship programs, social, psychological and chaplaincy support, cancer genetic counseling, more
- The Center for International Blood and Marrow Transplant Research, the global coordinating center for data from more than 500 transplant centers
- Advanced cancer treatments and technology, including microwave and radio frequency ablation, cryosurgery, da Vinci robotic surgical system, photopheresis, TheraSphere, Prism, Artiste, TomoTherapy, relative cerebral blood volume mapping
