Cancer patients have multifaceted support care needs. The Clinical Cancer Center provides a full range of support services that address the physical, emotional, social and spiritual needs of patients and their families.
The Jeffrey C. Siegel Quality of Life CenterOur innovative Jeffrey C. Siegel Quality of Life Center, named in memory of an individual whose generous family helped make it possible, is located on the second floor of the Clinical Cancer Center, next to the Interdisciplinary Cancer Clinics. Patients and family members can schedule an appointment or drop in for a variety of important support services.
- Psych-oncology nursing. Advanced practice nurses provide counseling to cancer patients and can prescribe medications.
- Registered dietitians. Nutrition experts who assess and recommend solutions to nutrition problems, create customized eating plans, and support cancer patients in maintaining better health throughout treatment and recovery.
- Complementary medicine. Patients can explore a variety of non-traditional health services that have proven effective in supporting cancer treatment.
- Social workers. Trained professionals who help cancer patients access community and other resources to get the support they need.
- Financial counselors. Skilled professionals who help patients and family members navigate their financial options.
- Chaplains. Individuals and families can seek spiritual support and counseling from hospital chaplains who focus on cancer patients.
- Cancer Genetic Counselors. Specially trained and certified professionals who help patients, family members and others understand their risk of experiencing an inherited form of cancer.
The Quality of Life Center also houses offices for our world-renowned Palliative Care Program for patients facing terminal illness.
Small Stones Wellness CenterMany cancer patients experience changes in their personal appearance. Hair loss, mastectomy and other issues can add to the burden of disease and treatment.

Cancer Rehabilitation GymMany cancer patients have specific physical therapy and rehabilitation needs. The Clinical Cancer Center includes a small gym and several private treatment rooms for onsite rehabilitation therapy. Specialized physical medicine and rehabilitation physicians and therapists use these facilities to help patients overcome the effects of cancer and recover from treatment.
Cancer Support GroupsPatients receiving treatment at the Clinical Cancer Center can join several different groups that provide emotional and social support. Options include groups for people with lung cancer, breast cancer, prostate cancer, brain tumors, blood-related cancers and other cancer diseases.

Child Life ServicesA child life specialist is a certified professional who uses developmental, educational and therapeutic interventions to help children cope with illness and hospitalization. Our child life specialist uses her knowledge of child development to educate, prepare and support children during the adult’s hospital stay.
