On what days are appointments available? Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday
How long will my visit take? The complete executive physical exam — which may include blood tests, chest X-ray, stress test, audiogram, fitness testing, mammograms and bone density and a 60- to 75-minute physician examination — is usually completed in five to six hours hours. Referrals to specialists and additional testing, including coronary calcium scans or colonoscopy, are usually done on a different day at the convenience of the patient.
Where is the Executive Health Program located?
The Executive Health Program is located on the third floor of the Froedtert East Clinic Building, next to Cardiology. Whether coming from the north, south, east or west, the program is conveniently located.
What can I expect on the day of my physical?
On the day of the exam, an escort will meet you at the second floor information desk, located in the Froedtert East Clinic Building. You will be escorted to all scheduled appointments to save valuable time and make the exam process easier.
Can I add or subtract certain tests to the regular ones scheduled? When you first make the appointment, we will send you an e-mail asking about your special issues or requests. We will give you a list of tests and ask if you had any of them recently. If so, we may not need to repeat the test. We will also ask if you have special medical issues to discuss, which may require special tests, or if you would like us to schedule a specialist referral on the same day of your visit (provided the specialist is available).
Will I get results the same day? Yes, in fact, most tests are completed and the results are available by the time of your physician visit. We consider a discussion of the lab results an important part of helping you better understand your health.
How do I prepare for my visit? You start by calling the Executive Health Program Medical Assistant, Julie Meddaugh, at 414-805-5150. She will ensure that the examination addresses your medical needs, schedule the tests that need to be completed and, if necessary, consult with Dr. Gleeson on the testing regimen. After scheduling your exam, we will send you a confirmation letter with itinerary and directions, patient instructions, health history form and a map.
You should not eat or drink after 10:00 pm the day before the exam and until after your blood is drawn and your treadmill test is completed. You should also wear comfortable clothes and tennis shoes, if you are scheduled for a treadmill.
Do you contact my personal physician with the results of my physical and tests? We will send a copy of the exam, all test results and a copy of your exam report to your personal physician only if you ask us to do so.
I am a female. Is it possible to have a female do my examination?A female nurse practitioner will conduct the female (breast and pelvic) examinations and spend time discussing women’s health including birth control, osteoporosis and menopause. Dr. Gleeson will then do his medical risk assessment.
What will I receive after the exam? After the exam is complete, we will send you a report summarizing all of the medical issues you discussed with Dr. Gleeson — your cardiovascular, cancer and diabetes risk assessments and copies and interpretations of all lab results. In addition, if you are referred for other tests or a specialist referral, we will send you copies of those reports when we receive them. In general, the reports are sent out within two weeks of the examination.
How is payment handled? We will bill your insurance for Froedtert Hospital services and The Medical College of Wisconsin services according to your exam. If your employer is sponsoring your exam, your employer will receive a bill and is responsible for the difference. In the absence of employer sponsorship, the patient will recieve a bill and is responsible for the difference. Customary co-pays, deductibles and rates apply.
Payment methods:
- Some corporations have an agreement with Froedtert & The Medical College of Wisconsin to provide Executive Health physicals. Corporations may elect to have Froedtert & The Medical College first bill the patient’s health insurance and then bill to the corporation any remaining balances due to Froedtert Hospital and The Medical College of Wisconsin. If you are interested in this corporate arrangement, please have your Human Resources director contact the Executive Health Program directly at 414-805-5150.
- Patients may elect to have their private insurance billed with the understanding that any remaining balances to Froedtert Hospital and to The Medical College of Wisconsin are the responsibility of the patient.
- Some patients wish to pay privately for the exam. Payment is made in full by the patient on the date of service. Cash, check and credit card (MasterCard or Visa) payments are accepted.
We do see Medicare patients, but Medicare does not cover exhaustive, executive level preventive exams. Medicare patients are asked to sign an Advance Beneficiary Notice which states that patients understand they are receiving an uncovered service. Patients are responsible for any unpaid balances to both Froedtert Hospital and to The Medical College of Wisconsin after Medicare has paid for services rendered.
