The Eye Institute offers several tests for evaluating color vision deficiency. It is also the birthplace of the Neitz Test of Color Vision. This test — invented by Institute researchers Maureen Neitz, PhD, and Jay Neitz, PhD — has proven to be the most effective color blindness screening tool available commercially.
What sets the Neitz Test apart is its usefulness in screening large groups of children all at once. Other tests must be given one at a time, require special lighting and can only be interpreted by someone with special training. The Neitz Test can be administered to a whole classroom, it works in any light and it can be scored by anyone. The test has proven to be a very accurate indicator of color vision problems.
