Heart and Vascular Center

Diagnostic Laboratories and Imaging

Diagnostic testing is performed in specialized clinical laboratories, where many heart and vascular treatment procedures are also performed. The Heart and Vascular Center uses state-of-the-art imaging technology to detect heart and vascular disease. Many physicians in the Heart and Vascular Center specialize only in imaging of the heart and blood vessels, performing a high volume of imaging procedures each year.

Specialized Diagnostic Laboratories

Electrophysiology Laboratory — EP test and tilt table test to diagnose electrical problems in the heart.

Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory — catheter-based minimally invasive procedures to diagnose and treat heart and vascular disease (balloon angioplasty, cryo-balloon angioplasty, cutting balloon angioplasty, stent placement, atherectomy, thrombolysis, valvuloplasty, PFO and ASD closure, transseptal catheterization).

Echocardiography Laboratory — cardiac ultrasound testing (TTE, TEE, stress tests, ICE, CRT, 3-D echocardiography).

Vascular Laboratory — testing of blood flow and blockages in the blood vessels using Doppler and duplex ultrasound.

Electrocardiography (EKG) — testing electrical changes in the heart.
