Endurance Performance Enhancement — designed to enhance athletic performance and help you realize your ultimate potential using the latest sports-specific training teachings and equipment
Explosive Power Training for the Lower Extremity
This multi-level program is designed to improve an athlete’s ability to perform quick, explosive and fast reacting movements. Level 1 (six weeks) concentrates on establishing proper technique, foot quickness and a sound conditioning base. Level 2 (six weeks) emphasizes explosive vertical and horizontal movements.
Explosive Power Training for the Upper Extremity
This comprehensive six-week program is designed to improve strength, stabilization and power throughout the upper extremity. Emphasis is placed on sports-specific mechanics with overhead movement, rotator cuff strengthening and scapular stabilization.
Golf Swing Program — designed for golfers at any skill level who want to improve their golf swing and reduce injury
Executive Fitness Program — promotes a healthy lifestyle for the high-stress and fast-paced life of executives.
Integrated Proprioception Training
Proprioception: the unconscious perception of movement and spatial orientation arising from stimuli within the body. Integrated Proprioception Training is an advanced six-week program designed to enhance balance, coordination, body control and awareness. Emphasis is placed on functional core strengthening and multi-directional kinetic chain movements.
This comprehensive six-week program is designed to improve mechanics, velocity and accuracy of the throwing athlete. Our physical therapists, athletic trainers and biomedical engineer evaluate your throwing mechanics using our state-of-the-art, high-speed motion analysis system (also used by Medical College of Wisconsin physicians who provide care for the Milwaukee Brewers). Using a combination of upper extremity, lower extremity and core strengthening exercises in conjunction with throwing mechanics, this program enhances the performance of the overhead-throwing athlete.
Quickness and Agility Training
This comprehensive six-week program is designed to enhance an athlete’s ability to react and change direction quickly. Emphasis is placed on footwork, acceleration, deceleration and multidirectional movements.
Speed Enhancement Training
This multilevel program is designed to improve an athlete’s overall speed. Stride length and stride frequency, the main components of speed, are addressed using state-of-the-art equipment and training techniques. Start with level 1 (six weeks), which focuses on establishing proper running technique and improving conditioning. At level 2 (six weeks), the training emphasizes high-level resistive, contrast running and advanced over-speed work.
The Sports Medicine Center is equipped to handle the needs of multiple athletes and teams. Training results are enhanced when an athlete is pushed by a peer, teammate or friend. Price discounts are given to teams performing our skill-specific six week programs. Contact Us for more information.
Throwing Athlete Program — designed for athletes in throwing sports (e.g., baseball, football and basketball) to improve performance and lessen the likelihood of injury
ACL Injury Prevention
The anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) is one of four ligaments critical to the stability of the knee joint. The ACL Injury Prevention Program is a comprehensive six-week program (twice a week) designed to improve lower extremity strength, core stability, reaction times and balance. Sports-specific mechanics, body control and multidirectional movements are emphasized. Using the latest equipment and training techniques, we conduct a thorough evaluation and design a conditioning program and strengthening workout to address your needs and goals. If you want to improve your athletic performance and decrease your injury risk, this program is for you.

Additional ServicesIn addition to the 12-session training programs, PEP participants may choose from a variety of other services:
VO2 Max and Anaerobic Threshold Analysis
VO2 max and anaerobic threshold are predictors of your endurance. Both are very important if you are training for an endurance event or want to know your training parameters.
- VO2 max (maximal aerobic power) — the maximum amount of oxygen that can be used by muscles in a given period of time. VO2 max is your maximal rate of oxygen consumption and a measure of your capacity to generate the energy required for endurance activities. To assess VO2 max, the athlete performs progressively intensive exercise, during which ventilation and oxygen concentration of inhaled and exhaled air are measured. VO2 max testing is performed on a bike or treadmill and a metabolic analysis is done. The results provide max levels of heart rate, VO2, VCO2 and anaerobic threshold.
- Anaerobic threshold — the point at which lactate removal fails to keep up with the rate of lactate production as exercise intensity increases. At the anaerobic threshold, lactate starts to accumulate in the blood because it is produced faster than it can be removed (metabolized). The anaerobic threshold is a useful measure for determining exercise intensity for training and racing in endurance sports. The threshold can be greatly increased with training.
Body Fat Analysis
One of our athletic trainers can provide a skin-fold analysis to estimate your body fat.
Our trained professionals can set up your bicycle according to your height, weight and training style. We may also modify your bike setup if you have a nagging injury. This program is helpful for those who have had knee or hip injuries or surgery.
Our professionals are available to speak to your group on a variety of athletic topics. You may also want to meet at our Patient Education Conference Room, which is equipped with full audio and visual aids. The room is located at the Froedtert & The Medical College of Wisconsin Sports Medicine Center. There is no room charge for team programs.
Dance Medicine Program
PEP staff members offer this program to prevent, diagnose and treat injuries among dancers. Designed by the physicians, physical therapists and athletic trainers of the Milwaukee Ballet, this program also offers valuable training techniques to optimize performance.
Our nutritionist provides athletes with a detailed analysis of their current diet as well as a plan to meet their athletic needs.
Skill-Specific Motion Analysis
Would you like to see your basketball shot, baseball pitch, golf swing, hockey slap shot, tennis forehand or soccer kick in slow motion, digitized and from any angle at any time? We can analyze any motion to view the mechanics, show inefficiencies and provide force data to maximize performance.
