Nearly 25 percent of all solid tumors are cancers that arise in the urinary tract. The Prostate and Urologic Cancer Program at Froedtert & The Medical College of Wisconsin features a complete team of physicians with advanced training in the care and treatment of these diseases.

Urologic cancers can have a significant impact on patients’ functional abilities. The Prostate and Urologic Cancer Program offers exceptional experience in several organ-sparing and function-preserving treatments for urologic malignancies.

Prostate Cancer

Prostate cancer is as common in men as breast cancer is in women. We offer a full range of surgical, radiation, hormone and chemotherapy treatments for men with this disease.

Bladder and Ureteral Cancer

Cancers of the bladder and ureter require team-based management. Our care team includes reconstructive surgeons who are often able to preserve urinary function for patients who require bladder removal. Our program also offers expertise in drug treatments, minimally invasive ureteral and bladder surgeries, as well as organ preservation techniques for bladder cancers.

Kidney Cancer

As imaging technologies become more widespread, more kidney tumors are being detected at an early stage. We offer a full range of techniques for removing tumors, while preserving as much of the organ as possible. In addition, newer targeted chemotherapy agents are available for patients with advanced kidney cancer.

Testicular Cancer

Cancer of the testis is highly treatable. Our care team focuses on developing a treatment plan that achieves a cure while offering a good chance of preserving fertility.

Penile Cancer

Rare penile cancers are essentially skin cancers involving the penis. Our urologic surgeons work in cooperation with dermatologic surgeons and radiation oncologists to treat the cancer while sparing as much healthy tissue as possible.

Cancer Genetics Screening Program

There are several genetic risk factors related to urologic cancers. The Cancer Genetics Screening Program at Froedtert & The Medical College of Wisconsin provides genetic counseling and testing to individuals who may be at increased risk of cancer due to a personal history of cancer, a family history of cancer or an underlying genetic condition. The goal of the program is to provide personalized counseling regarding cancer risk, cancer genetics, genetic testing, early detection, improved cancer management and possible risk reduction. Assisted Reproductive Technologies

Urologic cancers can impact men and women during their reproductive years. Treatments have the potential to adversely affect fertility. For those patients interested in future fertility, or those attempting to conceive following cancer therapy, the Prostate and Urologic Cancer Program offers a wide range of sophisticated reproductive technologies to assist couples in conception.
