Giving Back to the Community

The staff of the Froedtert & the Medical College of Wisconsin Trauma Center makes important contributions to the community in a number of ways.

Prevention Programs
Prevention is the best way to save lives and reduce traumatic injuries. Froedtert Hospital nurses and Medical College of Wisconsin physicians are involved in outreach programs aimed at preventing behaviors that may result in injury.

  • Emergency Nurses Cancel Alcohol Related Events (ENCARE): Trauma and emergency nurses at Froedtert present a thought-provoking program to area high school students highlighting the tragic consequences of underage alcohol use.
  • No PAIN (Prevent Avoidable Injuries Now): This awareness campaign is geared toward reducing avoidable injuries in young adult drivers.

Ongoing Research

  • National Study on Costs and Outcomes of Trauma Care (NSCOT): Froedtert & the Medical College of Wisconsin is working with Johns Hopkins University School of Public Health and the University of Washington School of Medicine on a nationwide research study involving thousands of people who were injured. The goals of the research are to determine how well people are doing after an injury and to find better ways to make sure they receive the treatment they need.
