Women and Heart Disease

Meeting the unique needs of every woman

When it comes to heart and vascular disease, a woman’s risk is no less daunting than a man’s. In fact, heart and vascular disease cause more deaths among women than the next four causes of death combined. Not even cancer can trump this killer among women.

Heart and vascular disease is different in women, not because the male and female hearts are different, but because the bodies they support are different.

  • Pregnancy
  • Post-partum cardiomyopathy and heart failure
  • Coronary dissection, or a tear in the coronary artery
