Non-Surgical Treatments

Many non-surgical treatment options are incorporated into treatment plans for hand and upper extremity conditions. Medications may be prescribed to manage pain and inflammation. Injectable medications, such as XIAFLEX®, are an option for certain patients. XIAFLEX® is the first and only FDA-approved nonsurgical treatment option proven to be effective for certain cases of a hand condition called Dupuytren’s contracture in adults. Dupuytren’s contracture is a thickening of the flesh on the palm, which causes lumps and dimples in the skin and draws the fingers down into a bent position.
