Skin Cancer Center

Ongoing Care for High Risk Patients

Like organ transplant patients, other patients with certain conditions, such as malignant melanoma, may be at higher risk for recurring skin cancer.

Preventing Recurrence of Skin Cancer

For these patients, the Skin Cancer Center provides vital resources for preventing skin cancer or catching it at an early stage. Close, ongoing monitoring by the Skin Cancer Center or in collaboration with the patient’s dermatologist is just one part of the care plan developed based on individual needs.

Monitoring of Melanoma and Pigmented Lesion Patients

Patients who have had malignant melanoma have a higher lifetime risk of developing a second melanoma compared to patients who have never had melanoma. The Skin Cancer Center provides ongoing check-ups for melanoma patients. Other groups of patients at higher risk of melanoma are those who have unusual moles, pigmented lesion syndrome, or who have a family history of melanoma. These patients also benefit from ongoing close monitoring.

Making Ongoing Care Convenient

Little things can mean big conveniences when it comes to keeping up with skin cancer treatment and prevention care.

Services and features conveniently located within the Clinical Cancer Center are available to skin cancer patients so care can be completed in one location and patients can be more comfortable. Some of these services include:

  • Pharmacy
  • Diagnostic imaging lab
  • Specialized cancer blood lab
  • Day Hospital for patients who need chemotherapy and other infused treatments
  • 87th Street Bistro with healthy food selections
  • Wi-Fi access
  • Free convenient parking underneath the Clinical Cancer Center with valet service
  • Jeffrey C. Siegel Quality of Life Center, offering a full range of support services, classes, support groups and events
  • The Small Stones Wellness Center, offering resources and expert guidance in restoring and maintaining appearance and self esteem
