Scheduling Options

Froedtert Hospital is a leader in structuring schedules that work for its staff. Rather than conforming to traditional weekly schedules, in nursing, for example, Froedtert adopted the innovative 7/70 program in which a nurse works a 10-hour shift for seven consecutive days – followed by seven days off. For staff who choose this option, it means 26 weeks of the year are off, allowing for easy planning for vacations and other family activities. 7/70 is widely praised by the nursing staff and other caregivers, but actually has the most benefit for patients, for whom continuity of care is an important issue.

Other scheduling options are also available including the typical 40 hours per week on 1st, 2nd, and 3rd shift, and a weekend program for nursing staff.
