Working at Froedtert
A Smoke-Free and Tobacco-Free Environment
Froedtert Hospital, along with Milwaukee Regional Medical Center campus partners, went smoke-free and tobacco-free on Nov. 16, 2007. Our new policy supports Froedtert Hospital’s mission to advance the health status of the individuals and the communities we serve.
The policy extends to all Froedtert buildings and satellite locations including the Sunnyslope Health Center, all clinics and offices in the 9700 Watertown Plank Road building, the Plank Road Clinic and the Woodland Prime Office Park.
A smoke-free and tobacco-free environment means that smoking is not allowed outside as well as inside hospital facilities. The policy applies to everyone — patients, families, visitors, staff, physicians, students, volunteers, vendors, contracted workers and others. |

This joint collaboration includes Froedtert Hospital, Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin, the Medical College of Wisconsin, Curative Care Network, BloodCenter of Wisconsin, the Behavioral Health division of the Milwaukee County Mental Health Complex and all other campus buildings. The policy also applies to Froedtert staff working at the Woodland Prime Office Park in Menomonee Falls.
By creating a smoke-free and tobacco-free environment, Froedtert and our campus partners are promoting better health for generations to come. Numerous research studies have shown that smoking is responsible for many serious health problems, including heart and vascular disease, lung cancer, emphysema and asthma. Secondhand smoke is also harmful, and we know from comments received from patients and family members that smoking should not be allowed on the Milwaukee Regional Medical Center campus.
Froedtert Hospital is committed to taking this positive step toward improving the health of our staff, patients and community.
