Cancer Care Accreditations and Awards
The Froedtert & the Medical College of Wisconsin Cancer Network at Community Memorial Hospital's Cancer Care Center is accredited by the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer and the American College of Radiology.
The Care Center is honored to have achieved the Outstanding Achievement Award from our accrediting body, the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer. Cancer programs are surveyed every three years. A facility receives the Outstanding Achievement Award following an on-site evaluation by a physician surveyor during which the facility demonstrates a "commendation" level of compliance with standards that represent the full scope of a cancer program (cancer committee leadership, cancer data management, clinical services, research, community outreach, and quality improvement).
In addition, a facility receives a compliance rating for the remaining 29 standards. Sixty-six programs received this award as a result of surveys performed in 2007. This number represents approximately 15 percent of the programs surveyed during this period.
Accredited by the American College of Radiology
The Radiation Oncology program is accredited by the American College of Radiology-American Society for Radiation Oncology (ACR) for a three-year term (2012). Only 10 percent of the nation’s radiation oncology practices achieve this distinction, and it represents the highest level of quality and patient safety.
The accreditation confirms the high standard of radiation oncology treatment provided at all sites served by the Medical College of Wisconsin radiation oncologists, It is awarded only to facilities meeting specific practice guidelines and technical standards developed by ACR and ASTRO after a peer-review evaluation by board-certified radiation oncologists and medical physicists who are experts in the field.
