Surgery for Cancer

Surgery is an important treatment not just for removing a malignant tumor, but also for taking a biopsy to help diagnose cancer and to reduce the size of a tumor that cannot be removed completely. Surgery is also used to treat complications of cancer, to ease pain and reconstruct cancer-damaged structures. For some patients, less invasive techniques can make surgery less traumatic and speed recovery.
