The Eye Institute provides comprehensive evaluation and management of glaucoma, a group of diseases in which too-high pressure inside the eyeball can gradually damage the nerve that connects the eye to the brain leading to blindness. Service offerings include surgical/laser management and combined cataract/glaucoma surgery.

The Glaucoma Service at the Eye Institute has several methods of vision testing and optic nerve analysis to diagnose and track the disease. Glaucoma receives considerable attention from Institute researchers, who recently took part in a national trial to show that managing high eye pressure helps prevent full-blown glaucoma.
