Center for Advanced Care

Center for Advanced Care BuildingSince its opening in 1980, Froedtert Hospital has grown steadily into eastern Wisconsin’s only academic medical center. This growth means that some of our programs are bursting at the seams.

The solution? The new Center for Advanced Care (CFAC) will provide much needed relief and consolidation of services to better serve our patients – increasing efficiency and care coordination.

The CFAC is a capstone project, the completion of an 18-year plan that began in 1995 when Froedtert Hospital purchased Doyne Hospital and will finally fully connect the buildings that make up the Froedtert campus.

And, it will do so much more than connect buildings. As a result of this building, all surgical procedures currently taking place in separate locations on campus will be consolidated between the Center building and main hospital. In addition to surgical and interventional care, the building will also house the Heart and Vascular Center and the Transplant Center to support care coordination between these three important programs. It’s a transformational change that will have a great impact on the care our patients receive.

About The Center for Advanced Care

Located on the Wauwatosa campus along Doyne Avenue, between the Clinical Cancer Center and Parking Area 1, the Center for Advanced Care will provide a comfortable and confidence-inspiring refuge for patients and families who seek the highest quality of cardiac, transplant, and/or surgical/interventional care.

The building will provide a "front door" for the programs it houses. It will be the first stop for patients visiting Froedtert for these care specialties. Patients will enter through an inviting atrium, and travel through corridors open to views of the outdoors and the park lands along Wisconsin Avenue.

Programs Supported Within the Center for Advanced Care

This innovative center will house three important patient care areas - The Heart and Vascular Center, The Transplant Center and Preoperative Outpatient Management.

The Heart and Vascular Center offers a complete range of heart and vascular services, provided by one of the best teams in Wisconsin. Cardiologists, cardiac surgeons, interventional cardiologists, and many more will offer patients the most advanced surgical and non-surgical treatments available in the region in the area’s only academic-based Heart and Vascular Center.

The new Transplant Center will consolidate our highly experienced transplant program in one place to offer the most comprehensive transplant program in the region. Nationally recognized for excellence in transplant care, Froedtert & the Medical College of Wisconsin promotes a multidisciplinary approach to the continual improvement of the clinical, scientific, and educational aspects of transplantation, thereby improving the lives of patients with organ failure.

Our Preoperative Outpatient Management program will also be housed in the Center for Advanced Care. This means that the CFAC will be the first stop for all patients arriving for surgery at Froedtert Hospital. Here, patients will be admitted and receive all of their pre-op services, just one floor from the location of their actual surgery.

Founded on Philanthropy

Froedtert Hospital was founded on philanthropy – through a generous gift from Milwaukee industrialist Kurtis A. Froedtert. Philanthropy planted the seed and contributions made today will extend the branches of this powerful community resource. Through the generosity of friends and supporters, Froedtert & the Medical College intends to raise $25 million for The Center for Advanced Care.

Please join us in advancing this work with your support. It’s easy to help.
