Froedtert Hospital Pharmacy Residency Requirements and Expectations

The following are some of the requirements and expectations for participants in the PGY1 Pharmacy Residency Program at Froedtert Hospital:

  1. Professional Organization Membership
    • American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP)
    • Pharmacy Society of Wisconsin (PSW)
  2. Conferences
    • ASHP Midyear Clinical Meeting
    • Great Lakes Pharmacy Resident Conference (GLPRC)
    • Milwaukee Residency Conferences (six/year)
  3. Formal Presentations
    • UHC Resident Poster Presentation
    • GLPRC PowerPoint Presentation
  4. Acute Care Clinical Practice (based on current staffing model, subject to modification)
    • Average of one out of five weeks spent staffing as a decentral clinical pharmacist (Monday - Friday, 10-hour PM shifts)
    • Average of one out of five weekends spent staffing as a central and/or decentral pharmacist (Friday - Sunday, 10-hour shifts)
    • Four additional shifts as a combination central/decentral pharmacist (Friday, 8-hour shift)
  5. Departmental Meetings
    • Twice weekly clinical conferences
    • Weekly resident journal club
    • Monthly department staff meetings
    • Bimonthly administrative residency discussions 
    • Weekly medication safety discussions
  6. Licensure
    • Licensed as a pharmacist in the state of Wisconsin (required by September 1, 2014) 
  7. Other
    • Minimum 8 hours/day (Monday - Friday)
    • Assist and support department in additional ways as needed
    • Complete assignments and evaluations on a timely basis
    • ACLS certification (classes provided)
    • Participate in recruitment for incoming residency class
    • Precepting of IPPE students on rotation at Froedtert

Community Memorial Hospital Pharmacy Residency Requirements and Expectations

The following are some of the requirements and expectations for participants in the PGY1 Pharmacy Residency at Community Memorial Hospital

  1. Professional Organization Membership
    • American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP)
    • Pharmacy Society of Wisconsin (PSW)
  2. Conferences
    • ASHP Midyear Clinical Meeting
    • Great Lakes Pharmacy Resident Conference (GLPRC)
    • Milwaukee City Wide Residency Conferences (six/year)
  3. Formal Presentations
    • UHC Resident Poster Presentation
    • GLPRC PowerPoint Presentation
  4. Acute Care Clinical Practice (based on current staffing model, subject to modification)
    • After completing each rotation the resident will staff that area as a decentral clinical pharmacist for 2 weeks
    • The resident will staff one weekend per month spent staffing as a central and/or decentral pharmacist
    • The resident will staff one evening shift per month
  5. Departmental Meetings
    • Weekly resident meetings
    • Monthly pharmacy staff meetings
    • Monthly pharmacist meetings
    • Monthly Epic Willow RX meetings
  6. Licensure
    • Licensed as a pharmacist in the state of Wisconsin (required by Sep. 1, 2013)
  7. Other
    • Minimum 8 hours/day (Monday - Friday)
    • Assist and support department in additional ways as needed
    • Complete assignments and evaluations on a timely basis
    • ACLS certification (classes provided)
    • Participate in recruitment for incoming residency class
