PGY2 Critical Care Pharmacy Residency Requirements and Expectations

The following are some of the requirements and expectations of participants in the PGY2 Critical Care Pharmacy Residency at Froedtert Hospital:

  1. Professional Organization Membership
    • Society of Critical Care Medicine (SCCM)
  2. Conferences
    • SCCM Annual Congress
    • Great Lakes Pharmacy Resident Conference (GLPRC)
    • Milwaukee Residency Conferences (~six/year)
    • ASHP Midyear Clinical Meeting (optional)
    • University Health Consortium (UHC) Annual Meeting (optional)
  3. Formal Presentations
    • Poster at SCCM (or poster at UHC)
    • GLPRC PowerPoint Presentation
    • PSW Poster Presentation (optional)
  4. Pharmacy Staffing
    • Approximately nine weeks throughout the year (Monday - Friday, 10-hour shifts in central or decentral areas)
    • Approximately six weekends throughout the year (Saturday - Sunday, 10-hour shifts in central or decentral areas)
  5. Departmental Meetings
    • Twice weekly clinical conferences
    • Weekly resident discussions
    • Monthly staff meetings
  6. Licensure
    • Licensed as a pharmacist in the state of Wisconsin
  7. Other
    • Minimum eight hours/day (Monday - Friday)
    • Assist and support department in additional ways as needed
    • Complete assignments and evaluations on a timely basis
    • Coordinate Pharmacy Week activities within the hospital
