Reasons to Deliver at St. Joseph’s
St. Joseph’s Birth Center offers a perfect blend of comfort backed by advanced technology and expert caregivers.
Near Home and in the Community
Located in the heart of Washington County in West Bend, Wis., St. Joseph’s Birth Center is convenient for patients, families, friends and caregivers. Many physicians and nurse midwives have offices in the adjoining St. Joseph's Health Center.
High Comfort and High Tech
New and modern, crisp and clean, the Birth Center has private and beautiful patient suites with comfortable features and space for caregivers, family and friends. Patients love our more intimate feel, but rest assured knowing that a cesarean birth suite, special care nursery, state-of-the art infant security system and advanced technology are part of their care.
Physicians, Nurses and Specialists You Trust
For care during pregnancy, birth and long after, families can select from among our exceptional staff including obstetricians, family medicine physicians, pediatricians and certified nurse midwives. Perinatologists from The Medical College of Wisconsin and neonatologists from Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin also care for patients at St. Joseph’s Hospital.
Caring, Experienced, and Dedicated Nurses
Many say that our Birth Center registered nurses have such great expertise and compassion that they anticipate needs even before patients and families do! Birth Center nurses have special training and certifications in mother and baby care.
It’s All About Your Family
The birth of your baby is a family affair. We wouldn’t have it any other way! From sibling classes to open visiting hours to room service and sofa-sleepers, we want families to feel welcome, involved and cared for.
Education Creates Confident Moms and Families
Education is essential to quality care and an enjoyable birth experience. To boost confidence about delivery and taking baby home, the Birth Center offers classes on topics like childbirth preparation, newborn care and breastfeeding.
Personalized Experience Based on your Choices
We encourage parents to plan for the birth and make decisions about their care. In this way, each family’s birth experience reflects their unique needs, beliefs, priorities and cultural preferences. Safety, dignity and privacy are protected.
Patient Comfort is a Priority
During labor, nurses help mothers find relief from tension or pain. Birthing balls, whirlpool baths and other strategies can ease discomfort. Pain relief options let patients choose what works for them when they need it. “Walking epidurals” are a popular choice, allowing mothers the freedom to get out of bed while the epidural is in place.
The Birth Center is equipped to care for high-risk pregnancies, challenging deliveries and infants born as early as 35 weeks’ gestation. When needed, patients have access to the extensive resources of Froedtert Hospital and Children’s Hospital.
