Reasons to Choose St. Joseph’s for Heart & Vascular Care
Nationally Recognized physicians
Our nationally recognized heart and vascular experts are here when you need them. Cardiologists from the adjoining St. Joseph's Health Center provide a full-time presence for cardiology services and office visits, plus round-the-clock emergency coverage. Vascular and heart surgeons, as well as other physician experts are available, too, for patients who need them.
When it comes to diagnosing and treating heart and vascular disease, many of our advanced heart and vascular services are provided right in Washington County, Wis., at St. Joseph’s Hospital. This minimizes travel and maximizes convenience.
Specialty Care Coordinated through Froedtert & the Medical College of Wisconsin
Patients also have direct access when needed to advanced heart and vascular care at Froedtert & the Medical College of Wisconsin. Services available at eastern Wisconsin’s only academic medical center include heart catheterization, angioplasty, heart bypass surgery, and other specialized procedures. And, because care is coordinated with St. Joseph’s hospital and physicians, patients can return as soon as possible to St. Joseph’s and their local caregivers for follow-up care.
Our Commitment to Putting the Patient First
Heart care at St. Joseph’s is a collaborative effort, focused on you and your family. Primary care physicians, cardiologists, surgeons and other heart and vascular specialists work with a team of specially trained heart and vascular care professionals. They take their time, answer your questions and make sure your experience is the best it can be.
Care When Time is Critical
The Emergency Care Center (ECC) at St. Joseph’s is staffed 24 hours a day by board-certified emergency medicine physicians. The ECC is a Level III Trauma Center. We work closely with local emergency medical service (EMS) professionals so that critical heart and vascular care can start immediately any time of day or night.
If necessary, in just 30 minutes or less, patients can be transported for emergency heart and vascular care at Froedtert & the Medical College of Wisconsin. This means patients receive the life-saving care they need in less than 90 minutes from the time they arrive at St. Joseph’s to the moment their intervention is complete. For best outcomes, cardiac experts know how crucial it is for blood flow to the heart to be re-established within that 90-minute window.
Enhanced Care for Co-Existing or Complex Conditions
When patients have other, complex health conditions like diabetes, our collaborative approach helps coordinate care for the best outcomes. As part of Froedtert & the Medical College of Wisconsin system, St. Joseph’s offers patients access to all the medical specialists they might need for highly individualized care. Plus, our electronic health record (EHR) makes sure that all caregivers have the most up-to-date information possible about a patient’s condition, latest tests and procedures.
