Summary
The purpose of this research study is to compare the effects of chemotherapy with docetaxel and cisplatin or carboplatin on avoiding the need to remove the eye and/or skull bone and on the chance of surviving the cancer. In this research study, you will get either chemotherapy (with Docetaxel and Cisplatin or Carboplatin) followed by surgery and radiation therapy, or the standard of care of surgery followed by radiation therapy. Another purpose of this research study is to determine the accuracy of imaging in predicting eye and skull base preservation as well as predicting overall survival after 2 years. There will be about 134 people taking part in this study.
