We treat small bowel cancer within the Froedtert & MCW Colorectal Cancer Program.
Small Bowel Cancer Risk Factors
Cancer of the small bowel is very rare. Patients with small bowel cancer may have had a history of:
- Crohn’s disease or inflammatory bowel disease (IBD)
- Immunosuppression for organ transplant
- Hereditary predisposition syndrome
Surgery and Chemotherapy Treatment
Most small bowel cancer is treated with a combination of surgery and chemotherapy. Radiation is used in only a very few circumstances.
Although this cancer is not common, our Colorectal Cancer Program physicians see many cases every year due to regional referrals to obtain second opinions and tap into their expertise.
Your physicians will discuss all possible treatment options to help you make the best choice.
Virtual Visits Are Available
Safe and convenient virtual visits by video let you get the care you need via a mobile device, tablet or computer wherever you are. We’ll gather your medical records for you and get our experts’ input so we can offer treatment options without an in-person visit. To schedule a virtual visit, call 1-866-680-0505.
